A Comprehensive Eye Wellness Examination includes vision and eye health evaluations, visual fields screening, Advanced Retinal Diagnostics screening, and dilated fundus exam, as needed. This fee is for private pay patients who require a yearly visit, when not using any insurance. The contact lens evaluation is an additional fee.
An eye examination through Vision Service Plan (VSP) includes a refraction to determine your spectacle prescription and screening examinations of the internal and external structures of the eye, including dilation, if needed. Additional testing through Advanced Retinal Diagnostics screening is recommended to have a more complete assessment. Some plans include a retinal screening, either fully or for a $39 copay. This screening is not the same as our Advanced Retinal Diagnostic (ARD) Screening. To get the best results for the eye health evaluation, we strongly recommend upgrading to the ARD. You will only be charged the difference for the upgrade.
Exam copays vary
For patients who suffer from symptoms of binocular vision dysfunction caused by misalignment of the eyes, we offer an extended comprehensive evaluation to diagnose and treat the condition. Some examples of symptoms are dizziness, headaches, eyestrain, light sensitivity, head tilt, imbalance, agoraphobia, difficulty with tasks such as driving, and more. This examination includes all vision testing, computerized specialty vision testing, and the Advanced Retinal Diagnostics screening. The contact lens evaluation is an additional fee.
For those with coverage, we will process a claim to your PPO medical/health insurance. Adjustments are made when and if payments are received. We will issue a refund if there is a difference. Most PPO insurances and traditional Medicare will have coverage for many of the services, however, HMO insurances never pay for these services so we do not submit a claim.
Please visit our NVM page for more information and to take the questionnaire to determine if you are a candidate.
Neurovisual Yearly Examination $599
Neurovisual Progress Assessment (One-month After Eyewear Dispensing) $399
When the reason for the visit is a specific eye medical concern and not for wellness testing or to update the vision prescription, the visit is classified as medical. These do not include refraction. A refraction is the measurement of vision that results in a glasses prescription. Most medical insurance plans, including Medicare, do NOT cover this procedure. We charge a separate refraction fee for this portion when the service is needed. Vision plans DO cover this procedure.
Medical Visit fees are based on the complexity and procedures needed; additional testing may be required with an additional fee
First medical visit $189+ Additional visits $99+
Copays and deductibles vary
Routine refraction $65
Neurovisual or complex refraction $85
A contact lens evaluation must be performed yearly to assure safe contact lens wear and to receive a contact lens prescription. The FDA classifies contact lenses as medical devices and the prescription is valid for one year. We evaluate for proper fit and vision, the health of the surrounding tissue, and corneal topography. Follow-up visits are included for up to two months. This fee is in addition to the exam fee and is typically not covered fully by vision plans or medical insurance.

With few exceptions, all of our patients opt to receive the ARD each year. We highly recommend including advanced testing with your comprehensive yearly eye exam to protect your vision and overall health. Our cutting-edge technology includes ultra-widefield retinal imaging with Optos California and cross-sectional optical coherence tomography (OCT) with the Optovue Avanti iWellness. These state-of-the-art, non-invasive tests allow for early detection of eye diseases and other health conditions, helping to prevent vision loss before symptoms arise.
These tests are quick and painless and will not cause blurry vision like dilation. To make this essential care even more accessible, the fee for these advanced retinal images is reduced when performed during your annual eye exam. Please note that this service is not included with your vision plan and goes far beyond what many plans refer to as "Retinal Imaging."
The insights gained from these tests have helped us preserve vision for countless patients. By investing in this technology, you are taking an important step in safeguarding your eye health for years to come.
Advanced Retinal Diagnostics
Evaluate your eye health with our Advanced Retinal Diagnostics $89 (valued at $300+)
The most common type of dry eye is evaporative dry eye and the most common cause of dry eye is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (watch video here).
The LipiFlow® Thermal Pulsation System is a cleared medical device for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) which utilizes Vector Thermal Pulse Technology™(VTP) shown to increase gland secretion threefold, on average, with just one treatment. This slows the evaporation rate of the tear film resulting in improved moisture, comfort, and clarity of vision due to a longer-lasting fluid reservoir. This no invasive, painless treatment is completed in 12 minutes. One follow-up visit at six weeks after the procedure is included.
Lipiflow $899 (Compare at $1200-1500 elsewhere)
Along with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, if there is also inflammation or ocular rosacea, IPL is the best option. IPL also reduces demodex infestation (watch video here).
Those familiar with dermatological treatments are familiar with IPL in improving skin and reducing redness and sunspots. ThermaEye Plus IPL is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment for eyelid and skin inflammation that leads to meibomian gland dysfunction and chronic dry eye. ThermaEye sends pulses of light to the skin surrounding the eye to constrict blood vessels and creates a soothing heat that liquefies hardened oils that have clogged meibomian glands. Dr. Rolando Toyos, an expert in dry eye treatments, has studied Meibomian Gland Dysfunction for over 2 decades and has developed exacting parameters and treatment protocols that have a 95% success rate in dry eye disease by treating eyelid and skin inflammation, and rosacea that leads to chronic dry eye. IPL has a positive effect on vascularization and inflammation of the eyelids, reducing eyelid redness and stimulating healthy gland function. With our treatment, we will manually express oil from the glands to help restore normal oil flow in the tear film with the MiBoFlo.
Radiofrequency (RF) energy waves treat dry eyes by heating the deep layers of the skin to unclog the meibomian glands. This helps improve dry eye symptoms. The heat also boosts the body's natural healing process. After treatment, manual expression of the glands can help stimulate oil flow. The electromagnetic waves used also stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin which is used to tighten and rejuvenate its appearance.
